Building materials distributor 84 Lumber announced on Thursday that its newest dedicated truss plant has opened in Statesville, North Carolina. The company said the new truss plant was part of its ongoing 2021 expansion plans that were designed to help fill the increasing demand for engineered and manufactured wood products around the country.
The new component plant primarily manufactures roof trusses and floor trusses. The 34,000-square-foot plant is fully automated and outfitted with the latest design software, computerized saws, a trackless gantry system and laser projection equipment. The facility opened at the end of June with 15 associates with plans to grow to 30 associates by the end of the year.
“With this new truss plant, we will now be able to fill the need for engineered and manufactured wood products across the Charlotte metropolitan area,” said Rory ONeill, area manager for 84 Lumber Components. “The facility will allow us to grow and strengthen our partnerships with new and existing customers.”
As part of a plan to expand its presence nationwide, the company said it would create component facilities within several new 84 Lumber stores. Manufacturing centers enable the company to support its customers and stores as well as give 84 Lumber associates opportunities for growth, according to 84 Lumber.
